Court of Protection Solicitor – Essex/Hybrid

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join a well-established firm with a strong reputation. The team is ranked highly in the legal directions nationwide, so this really is a great opportunity with real career prospects.

They are recruiting for a mid-senior level solicitor who can manage their own caseload, comprising of complex matters including acquired brain injuries; mental health issues; learning difficulties and the elderly. The caseload consists of deputyship applications; disputed Lasting Powers of Attorney; lifetime gifting and advance decisions and Statutory Wills.

Your key duties will be:

• To handle a caseload of matters relating to the court of protection
• Working closely with a range of clients to provide fast and pragmatic advice.
• Working with marketing strategies to attract new clients and developing relationships with current clients.
• Assisting in development opportunities within Mayo Wynne Baxter and externally
• Assisting senior team members and delegating appropriate work to paralegals

Skills and experience you will have:

• Relevant experience working in a private client department.
• Some knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act
• Ability to manage your workload, knowing when to delegate and when to request additional input, to provide the best client service.
• An understanding of clients as our business partners & the importance of knowing what is key for them.
• A willingness to engage in business development.
