An established Sussex-based law firm is currently seeking a highly skilled Court of Protection Solicitor to join their reputable team. Renowned for their commitment to providing high-quality legal services, this firm offers a collaborative and supportive environment for legal professionals to excel. As a Court of Protection Solicitor with this distinguished practice, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional legal support to clients navigating complex issues related to mental capacity and financial management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Court of Protection Matters: Manage a diverse caseload encompassing Court of Protection applications, deputyship appointments, and financial management for clients lacking mental capacity.
  • Client Advocacy: Provide expert legal advice and representation in Court of Protection proceedings, advocating for the best interests of vulnerable individuals.
  • Deputyship Applications: Oversee the preparation and submission of deputyship applications, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and facilitating the protection of clients’ interests.
  • Financial Management: Collaborate with clients, their families, and financial institutions to manage the financial affairs of individuals lacking capacity.
  • Legal Compliance: Stay abreast of developments in mental capacity law and Court of Protection practice, advising clients on legal compliance and potential risks.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Solicitor with a focus on Court of Protection matters.
  • Proven experience in handling a range of Court of Protection cases.
  • Strong knowledge of mental capacity legislation and related legal frameworks.
  • Excellent client management skills with a dedication to providing compassionate and effective legal support.
  • Membership of the Law Society Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation or STEP qualification is advantageous.
