Planning Lawyer, 5+ PQE, Birmingham

The Planning Team of this top 100 Law Firm has experienced significant growth over the last couple of years and that growth is set to continue, with major tender wins on high profile projects and clients across the country.

Clients include local authorities, developers, registered providers, NHS Trusts and healthcare providers, and major corporate clients. They advise on all the issues involved in bringing sites forward for sustainable development and regeneration including negotiating planning agreements, highways and compulsory purchase advice, planning appeals, listed building and conservation areas advice, contaminated land and the defence of town green applications.

There is an exciting opportunity for either an Associate or Senior Associate to join and to work closely with the partners within the team and across the firm.

This role will involve advising clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious planning matters, including planning appeals and compulsory purchase work.

What we are looking for from you

The successful applicant will possess the following skills key to the role:

• Experience in contentious and non-contentious planning law (preferred), gained ideally across a range of public and private sector clients and have a desire to work on development consent orders
• Strong communication skills with a professional approach to work
• Confidence in working directly with clients
• An ability to build strong interpersonal relationships
• An aptitude for drafting and legal analysis
• A keenness to work collaboratively with colleagues at junior and senior levels
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage time effectively
• A practical and commercial approach
• An interest in business development
