The Role

  • Advise fee earners and teams on regulatory, compliance, and risk matters.

  • Support audit findings and identify improvement opportunities.

  • Manage client and matter opening and closure, including conflicts.

  • Review risk elements in client and supplier contracts.

  • Draft and review client engagement letters and retainers.

  • Advise on SRA requirements and professional conduct.

  • Support internal investigations and regulatory engagement.

  • Manage complaints through the full lifecycle.

  • Assist with professional indemnity claims and liaise with insurers.

  • Develop and implement policies in response to regulatory changes.

  • Deliver training to lawyers and business services teams.

  • Support internal audit activity and follow up on actions.

  • Monitor regulatory developments and communicate updates.

  • Identify and lead risk and compliance projects.

  • Advise on ethical use of AI and legal technology.

  • Provide reporting and project support to the Risk & Compliance function.

About You

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2+ years' PQE.

  • Experience or strong interest in legal risk and compliance.

  • Knowledgeable about SRA Standards and Regulations.

  • Commercially minded with practical advice skills.

  • Comfortable with large data sets and trend analysis.

  • Confident communicator able to explain complex issues clearly.

  • Highly organised and detail-focused.

  • Proactive and pragmatic with a focus on improvement.

  • Interested in AI, legal technology, and regulatory change impacts.
