The Role

  • Oversee the Risk & Best Practice function, ensuring effective delivery of risk, regulatory compliance, and best practices.

  • Deputise for the Director of Risk and support Board and Audit & Risk Committee reporting.

  • Act as a senior escalation point for significant regulatory and reputational risks.

  • Ensure compliance with SRA Standards, AML/CTF, and other legal frameworks.

  • Manage incidents, data breaches, and information barriers.

  • Oversee AML/CTF, data protection, and information security governance.

  • Manage professional indemnity insurance and the firm's complaints-handling process.

  • Provide senior legal and regulatory advice on ethical issues and client contracts.

  • Design and deliver risk and compliance training programmes.

  • Manage performance, recruitment, and development within the R&BP team.

About You

  • Experienced risk lawyer or senior risk & compliance professional with law firm experience.

  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills.

  • Experience in presenting to senior management and familiarity with ISO standards.

  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage competing demands and provide strategic advice.

  • Collaborative approach and ambassador for best practices.
